Carrie at the 17th Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar party held at the Pacific Design Center on February 22, 2009 in West Hollywood, California.

On Wednesday, American Idol will begin elimination of the Top 13, and Carrie will be on hand to sing her version of the Motley Crue hit, Home Sweet Home, as a farewell to the fallen idol. In fact, the song will be *the* farewell song of Season 7 as American Idol counts down to reveal who among the contestants will remain standing after the final round.

Other farewell songs from the show have been Chris Daughtry’s Home, Daniel Powter’s Bad Day and Ruben Studdard’s cover of Kenny Loggins’ Celebrate Me Home.

Said Carrie:

“I’ve always love this song and besides being very fitting for ‘Idol,’ to me, the title is also very fitting with animal rescue and finding animals their own homes.”

The song will be available as a digital single on iTunes on March 16 and a portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the Humane Society of the United States.

PopPolitics Reviews Carrie Underwood’s “So Small”

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

PopPolitics.com has written a glowing review of Carrie Underwood’s new single “So Small”. Here is an excerpt of the wonderful piece written by Mark Blankman:

“There’s a reason “Before He Cheats” was a top ten hit on the pop charts. And there’s a reason I got chills watching La Underwood perform “Wasted” on “American Idol” this season. Those songs rule.

Judging by the sound of “So Small,” her latest single, Carrie Underwood has stayed with the producers and songwriters who know how to inject a song with 10 ccs of awesome.”

Carrie Underwood is still holding an impressive 42.8% of the votes in Gac’s Poll “Whose album release are you most excited about this fall?”.

Here are the upcoming video airtimes for Carrie Underwood today on GAC:

Carrie Underwood Rocks With Motley Crue, May Go Hollywood

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

Motley Crue put on a show last Friday night at the Wildhorse Saloon. Carrie Underwood made an appearance with some friends and ended up hopping on stage and singing ‘Kickstart My Heart ‘ alongside legendary rocker Vince Neil. You can view the footage here.

According To The Kansas City Star, Carrie Underwood may soon go Hollywood:

““American Idol” can put you on TV.

But a project from some Kansas City filmmakers could put you on the big screen.

“The Idol” is both a search for “the next great vocal artist” and a potential movie. Everything will be filmed. But here’s the twist: The movie, to be called “The Price of Fame,” will mix scripted action with the reality of a singing contest that offers real prizes.

The first auditions will be this week in Lawrence. Between then and next spring, “The Idol” will hold tryouts in several other cities, including Mexico City.

“Unlike ‘American Idol,’ we’re not nationally bound,” says John Penn, president of To the Moon Productions, based in Lee’s Summit.

“And unlike ‘American Idol,’ there are no age restrictions (on contestants). We’re looking for the best talent, and that might be someone 31 years old or it might be 15.”

The film will focus on two women battling to become “The Idol.”

“Those two characters will be mixed in along with the actual competitors,” Penn says.

Those parts haven’t been cast yet, and Penn says he might approach Carrie Underwood, a real “American Idol” winner, or Katharine McPhee, an “AI” runner-up. It’s also possible, he says, that one or both actresses might be found at the singing auditions.

Whatever happens, a real person will win the singing competition, Penn says. He’s promising that winner a car, a national recording contract and cash. He’s planning for the finale to take place next spring in Kansas City.”

Carrie Underwood’s official website now has “So Small” loading as the default song in the media player, so if you still haven’t heard it for some reason or another you can go there to check it out.

Carrie Underwood Making Billboard History

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

Billboard has an article about Carrie Underwood’s new single “So Small”. Not only is it the highest debuting entry of 2007, it is the highest new entry from a female solo artist since 1964. Here’s the article:

”‘SMALL’ IS BIG: You already knew that country radio couldn’t wait to play the first Carrie Underwood single from her second album. So you shouldn’t be surprised that “So Small” (Arista) blasts onto Hot Country Songs at No. 20. It’s not only the highest new entry of 2007, it’s the highest new entry ever for a solo female artist since January 1964, when the chart expanded from 30 to 50 positions.

It goes without saying then that “So Small” is Underwood’s highest-debuting title, besting the No. 39 bow of “Jesus, Take the Wheel” in November 2005.

“So Small” is Underwood’s eighth chart entry in just over two years. Her chart career began with “Bless the Broken Road,” a collaboration with Rascal Flatts that debuted and peaked at No. 50 the week of June 11, 2005.

Underwood is one of four “American Idol” alumnae in the top 20 of this week’s country chart. The other three all reach their highest positions on this chart, all in the same week. Kelly Clarkson reaches the top five, as her duet with Reba McEntire on “Because of You” (MCA) edges up 6-5. Bucky Covington rises 7-6 with “A Different World” (Lyric Street) and Kellie Pickler strolls 15-14 with “I Wonder” (BNA), topping the No. 15 peak of her first single, “Red High Heels.”"

Thanks to everyone who voted for “Wasted” on GAC’S Top 20 Countdown! “Wasted”is once again in the #4 position, having spent a total of 24 weeks on the chart and moving from last week’s #6 spot.
